This was my second attempt at photographing a family besides my own. Again, I learned a lot through this experience. Such a beautiful family allowed me to get several decent pictures. My biggest struggles with this session were getting everyone to smile at the same time and avoiding glasses glare.

Family F Session
I'm starting this blog to help me improve my photography. Please provide constructive criticism!
This was my first attempt at a family session. Aren't these kids just adorable!
Love the lighting in the above picture! I wish I would have taken more in this spot!
Here's my notes of some things I learned through this experience...
1. Bring bribes/toys and give the kids a break in between poses. They got bored and just wanted to play. I could have taken more candid pictures while they were playing too.
2. Write a list of ideas before going. I thought I would remember all my ideas, but realized after we were done that I forgot to do a lot of different poses I had wanted to try.
3. Watch for shadows on the kids faces. I should have used less direct sunlight. I knew this, but got carried away in making kids smile and using certain backgrounds/props.
4. Use the telephoto lens more. It produces great bokeh (blurry background) and since I don't have other lenses, that would be helpful. I can also be more of a silent observer in sweet family moments and take a photo journalistic type pictures.
I learned more, but I figure four take away points per session is a good start. What do you like? What do you think I could improve on from these pictures?
